Shorter URLs allow smaller print sizes because less data creates a less dense pattern. For anything printed at business-card size or smaller, download the SVG file rather than PNG, and always test the printed code before large production runs.

Work through these common causes in order:

1. Contrast - the QR foreground must be darker than the background. Never print a light-coloured code on a white background.
2. Size - codes under 2 cm × 2 cm often fail at a normal scanning distance. Increase the print size.
3. Logo coverage - if you added a logo, ensure it covers no more than 30% of the code area.
4. File quality - re-download at the highest resolution or use the SVG format instead of PNG.
5. URL length - long URLs create denser, harder-to-read patterns. Shorten your URL with a link shortener before encoding.
6. Camera distance - hold the camera 20–30 cm from the code and keep it steady for 1–2 seconds.
